Through fundraising efforts at all of our restaurant locations (Chianti Il Ristorante, Forno Bistro & Boca Bistro), DZ Restaurants raised $2140 for the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York BackPack Program.
Although free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs provide significant nutritional benefits to students during the school day, many disadvantaged children do not receive sufficient food when school is not in session. The BackPack Program helps alleviate child hunger by discreetly providing hungry children with backpacks full of nutritious and easy-to-prepare food on Friday afternoons so they have food to eat throughout the weekend.
The cost to fill a single backpack is just over $5 meaning the $2140 donation would help fill over 400 backpacks. The entirety of the donation will go to students in the Stillwater School District who are part of the program. This is the third year we have raised money for the BackPack Program, raising a total of $7,000 during that time.
