Boca Bistro Donates Over $2500 to Saratoga Hospital

Saratoga Springs, NY July 9, 2012 –Owner of DZ Restaurants David Zecchini today presented a check for $2564 to Saratoga Hospital CEO and President Angelo Calbone and Executive Director of the Saratoga Hospital Foundation Terry Lee

The total contribution was raised from the proceeds of the highly anticipated Grand Opening of Zecchini’s newest restaurant concept, Boca Bistro; a Spanish Bistro & Tapas Bar.

Boca Bistro joins the family of DZ Restaurants which includes Chianti Il Ristorante and Forno Bistro in Saratoga Springs and Pasta Pane in Clifton Park.

“DZ Restaurants has been continually supportive of Saratoga Hospital. One Christmas David Zecchini even came over with toys for all the children in the Emergency Department.” said Terry Lee, Executive Director of the Saratoga Hospital Foundation. “Every time David opens up a restaurant he has helped Saratoga Hospital in some way and in this case he has helped us open a facility that will help so many individuals with no insurance or who are underinsured in Saratoga County.

The community health center will provide primary care, mental health, dental and some specialty services to uninsured and underinsured people.

Located in Saratoga Springs Boca Bistro blends vintage Spanish elements with a distinctive contemporary spirit unique to every DZ Restaurant. Through a mosaic of earthen and distressed textures, stylistic accents and a touch of Mediterranean influence Boca Bistro embodies the charismatic essence of an authentic old-world restaurant.

“We are successful because Saratoga residents give us success. Just as it’s important for us to give back to the community we also want our guests to come back and to give them a different place to eat. “said Zecchini “Opening Boca Bistro was an opportunity to do both. A way to give back (to the Saratoga Hospital) and a way to create something that is real, something where guests can try different and delicious foods while experiencing the energy of DZ Restaurants.”

Boca Bistro is awash with over 150 years of Saratoga’s rich culture and history, and was built in a building whose structural design and brickwork evokes Spanish colonial architectural underpinnings. Original red brick removed from the interior walls was re-purposed to create the brick facing on the front of the building. Pressed tin discovered under the drywall and dropped ceiling was restored by using bronze paint to give the effect of an aged patina and repositioned on the restaurant’s new ceiling.

Reclaimed wood was used to construct the tables, the wine cabinet and the glass racks over the bar. A raw and eclectic collection of lights including mason jars, Edison light bulbs, inverted garden pails and rock cages adds a warming glow to every corner of the restaurant.

Boca Bistro seats 90 guests and offers an intimate street-level sidewalk patio along with private and semi-private event space. Boca Bistro’s centerpiece is a 20-seat bar serving Spanish-inspired tapas. Boca Bistro is open 7 days a week for dinner at 5pm and also features Happy Hour from 3pm-6pm daily.
