David and Roslyn Zecchini had lived in their new home for less than a year when nature evicted them for five months. Ice buildup caused water damage to the roof and whole interior walls. Before they understood the pervasiveness of the problem, David observed a drip, dismissed it and put down a pan to catch the water.
“It’s a little leak,” he recalls saying. “How bad could it be? We’ll be fine.”
