Spain happens to be the world’s largest exporter of strawberries. We don’t necessarily think of strawberries as being Spanish in this country as most of this production is consumed within Europe. This, coupled with the fact that here in NY we have access to some amazing local strawberries, is what made us want to feature a strawberry cocktail this summer at Boca Bistro. It is called the “Costa de la Luz” (the Coast of Light) after the colloquial name for the area where about 90% of Spanish strawberries are produced on the Mediterranean south coast.

Costa de la Luz
• 2 oz of pressed Strawberry Juice
• 1.5 oz of Makers Mark
• Fresh Vanilla Bean (rubbed on rim)
• Small sprig of mint
