DZ Restaurant makes $750 donation to the Saratoga Economic Council Soup Kitchen

One month after Boca Bistro opened its doors for lunch DZ Restaurants presented Community Services Program Director Lillian McCarthy and Soup Kitchen Coordinator Alan Murawski from the Saratoga EOC with a donation of $750.

Open seven days a week The Saratoga Economic Council Soup Kitchen serves anywhere from 80 to 125 meals on a typical day, and is supported entirely by donations.

Boca Bistro opened for lunch on March 1st and as a part of Boca Bistro’s lunch campaign to raise awareness about lunch, they also wanted to raise awareness and money for the soup kitchen as a way to provide lunches to those in need. To accomplish this all four DZ Restaurant locations displayed a beautiful cast iron piggy bank into which guests were able to make contributions. The piggy banks raised $375, which DZ Restaurants matched.

Giving back to the community is important to owner of DZ Restaurants David Zecchini. “It’s so important for you to give back to the community that has supported you over the years,” Zecchini said.

Since 1998 DZ Restaurants has raised nearly $100,000 through their fundraising initiatives for the Saratoga Springs and Clifton Park communities. Their new program Raising Dough: Social Responsibility; similar to DZ Restaurants previous fundraising initiatives Raising Dough and Twelve, will contribute a donation equal to 30% of sales on the day of an organization’s event, but will also now feature a social media component that will allow organizations to earn up to an additional $1000.

“My intention with both Raising Dough and Twelve, and now Raising Dough: Social Responsibility, was to give back to the community and to those who support us.” Said Zecchini, “We have been fortunate to partner with many worthy organizations and have had great success in raising money for each individual cause.”
