Raising Dough Raises $1015 for The Food Pantries for the Capital District

Earlier this month we presented a check for $1015.91 to The Food Pantries for the Capital District. Roslyn Zecchini presented the check to Matthew Cuevas from CHA and Natasha Pernicka from The Food Pantries.

The mission of The Food Pantries for the Capital District is to address hunger in the Capital District. According to US Department of Agriculture, more than 2 million children and adults in New York are food insecure. Essentially, more than 13% of the population of NY do not have enough food to meet basic nutritional needs. In 2012, The Food Pantries helped provide more than 2.5 million meals to the hungry in the Capital District to more than 90,000 children, seniors, veterans, and adults.

According to The Food Pantries just $1 can help provide more than 6 pounds of food to needy individuals. Our $1015 donation equates to over 6,000 lbs of food!
